We all need that get-up-and-go in the morning and although breakfast is the best meal of the day, many of us skip it altogether, or snack on something not so healthy for our bodies. However, why not just jump on the smoothie train. An easy way to boost your mood at the beginning of the day, smoothies are packed full of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that get your day started from the get go.
So put down the coffee and start thinking about juicing. All you need to do is throw all the ingredients into a blender or food processor, and pour it into a cup!
- Green Coco Smoothie
This smoothie contains 1 cup of spinach, 1 cup of grapes, 1 cup of ice, and a quarter of a cup of coconut milk. The spinach is an amazing source of iron and zinc, while also providing protein and fiber. Grapes have incredible antioxidants called polyphenols, which help to slow and prevent many different forms of cancer. Lastly, the coconut milk is high in iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous, while also being packed full of vitamins.
- Almond Smoothie
Almonds are a great way to get protein into your diet, as well as being full of magnesium and vitamin E. High in fiber, an almond smoothie will keep you going longer, without needing to snack before lunchtime. Almonds are also an incredible source of cancer-fighting antioxidants. Equally, bananas are high in anti-oxidants, while also containing a significant amount of fiber and a high level of potassium. You need 1 cup of almonds, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, and 1 banana.
- Ginger and Berry Smoothie
This smoothie is packed full of goodness. You will need a quarter of a cup of rolled oats, with a teaspoon of ginger. Add half a cup of blueberries, half a cup of greek yogurt and half a cup of ice. The greek yogurt is an amazing source of probiotics, which will tend to the health of your digestive system and help to build the immune system. Ginger is excellent for settling the stomach (so try this one after a night of drinking!) while also containing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory components, helping with muscle soreness. Blueberries are an amazing superfood with the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit, while also being high in fiber, vitamin C and vitamin K. The oats provide solid carbohydrates that will keep you fuller for longer.
- Tropikale Smoothie
Kale is an incredible source of iron, zinc, fiber, and vitamins, while also providing protein. By pumping up your smoothie with kale rather than lots of fruit, you reduce the amount of sugar you would otherwise consume. This smoothie has one cup of kale, half a banana, one cup of pineapple, and half a cup of coconut milk. The pineapple is also rich in a whole range of vitamins and minerals, while also providing both soluble and insoluble fiber.
If you are a person who lives life in a rush and feels they do not have time for breakfast, think again. These quick smoothies allow you to take your breakfast with you and flood your body with goodness to get ready for whatever lays ahead that day. If you want an added boost of vitamins and minerals, why not pop a supplement in the blender as well, such as ‘Ultimate Man once a day’, to really boost your health! Taking care of yourself from the moment you wake up is vital, so ensure you get a full, healthy breakfast with a smoothie jam-packed with fruits and vegetables.
